HTF Market Intelligence have released the Global Íø±¬³Ô¹Ï Lending Market study, an analysis of the market spanning over 143 pages, describing the product and industry scope as well as the market prognosis and status for 2025 up to 2031.

According to HTF Market Intelligence, the global securities lending market size was valued at US$10.5 billion in 2024 and is estimated to reach US$16 billion by 2031, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.4 per cent from 2025 to 2031.

The report also highlights that Asia Pacific is the fastest growing region.

It says the demand for securities lending is further exacerbated by the overall expansion of global financial markets and their complexity as it supports greater liquidity and operational flexibility.

The results of the study also show technology is playing a vital role in streamlining the process of lending, making it faster and more efficient, therefore reducing operational costs.

The firm says financial regulations have enhanced the transparency, security, and trust within the securities lending market, encouraging increased participation.

While the market continues to grow steadily, the study found there were limitations impacting the growth.

A lack of global regulatory cohesion can lead to complications during cross border lending while others are wary of the counterparty risk if a borrower was to default leading to losses.

With the growing reliance on technology, operational inefficiencies, such as technological errors, can disrupt securities lending transactions, leading to delays and further costs.

Despite the concerns, the study suggests that by 2031, the securities lending market will have grown by US$500 million, highlighting the fact that the market continues to be on the up.
